Jackie Robinson Legend Lives On
Fans of baseball great and first African-American Major-League baseball player Jackie Robinson will be delighted to know that a film is in the pipeline about his rise to fame.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Legendary Pictures will produce the film along with Brian Helgeland who will write and direct the feature.
Former Walt Disney Studios chairman, Dick Cook will extend his knowledge of the workings of the industry yet again as executive producer.
Upon being asked her thoughts on the feature, Rachel Robinson (widow to the legend) couldn't be more pleased: "My family and I are thrilled to have this important film on Jack produced by Legendary Pictures. We are proud of his lasting impact on our society, and we know that the legacy he left is inspiring and worth preserving."
The film's release date is yet to be announced but as is with all things South African, we'll probably be waiting a while longer than the rest of the world!
(I'll keep you posted though. Promise!)
