Tim Burton Says No To Maleficent

According to the Hollywood Reporter, whimsical director Tim Burton won’t be directing the live-action version of Disney’s Sleeping Beauty.

Putting a spin on the fairytale classic, this version is less about Aurora, the Sleeping Beauty of the title, and more about the wicked witch Maleficent who sends the princess to her hundred year sleep. Angelina Jolie is set to play the title role.

Plans are afoot to find a new director, and rumour has it that Harry Potter director David Yates is being considered.

Burton is currently working on the feature-length stop-motion version of his 1984 short Frankenweenie.

Do you think that Sleeping Beauty will be better or worse off without Burton at the helm?
