Going out to watch a film at the cinema is more just watching a film. Each person you speak to will tell you about their 'ritual' of the cinema outing.
Firstly you have to decide on what film to watch. On most occasions you would be going to watch a specific film so the decision is easy. On other occasions however, you may just be going to watch a film for the sake of it and then have to face the impossible decision of what to watch. Depending on how good you are at this, it could take a while and end up in a rash decision which may or may not be the best.
You then stand in the queue to get your tickets and then the queue for your snacks and drinks. This is where the whole 'ritual' comes into play. There are very few people out there that will get something different every time. You would normally have your set cold-drink flavour and your chosen snack of choice. Be it popcorn, biltong, chocolate, sweets or perhaps everything! You may vary your choice occasionally but usually you stay in a certain boundary.
You are loaded with all your goodies and head towards the theatre the chosen film is showing in. Now another ritual is where you would like to sit. Some people like to sit in the back, some in the middle and others prefer to be closer.
After the film you walk out either happy or unhappy about your chosen film and discuss your feelings with whoever you are with. You leave the cinema looking forward to your return.
What are your cinema rituals?
