A Sexy Voiced Pirate?

Hugh Grant has undoubtedly got one of the sexiest accents in Hollywood, well in my opinion anyway. He has always been on the screens cast in some romantic or comedian role, using his boyish good looks to aid to his gorgeous voice. Hollywood Reporter has stated that Grant will be using only his voice in a new stop-motion 3D animation.

The Pirates! In An Adventure with Scientists is the new venture for Grant. This film is being produced by Aardman Animations for Sony Pictures Animation. Grant will voice the handsomely bearded Pirate Captain, a not so successful pirate of the High Seas. He goes on a quest to become pirate of the year.

Other cast members include David Tennant, Imelda Staunton, Jeremy Piven, Salma Hayek, Brian Blessed, Brendan Gleeson and Ashley Jensen.

The Aardman production stable has acclaimed many Oscar-winning films and should produce another quality film alongside director Peter Lord and co-director Jeff Newitt. The screenplay is by Gideon Defoe, the story is based on his books. The film is set to be released in March next year.

I look forward to seeing, or rather hearing, Grant in a completely different role than what he is used to. If he is able to pull it off it will show the world that he is more than a rom-com actor.

How do you feel Grant will do in his new venture into animation?
