Trailer: Real Steel Trailer 2
Real Steel is an upcoming sci-fi robot boxing film directed by Shwan Levy and set for release later this year. The story is based on the 1965 sci-fi short story "Steel" by Richard Matheson. The gist of the story is that in the future, human boxing has been outlawed, presumably due to its life threatening nature, and instead humans have created robots to compete in the sport. Think Transformers + any boxing film you've ever enjoyed + a good dose of Hugh Jackman and a typical father-son relationship drama thrown in the mix and this film is the end result. Check out the trailer below:
This from the same studio, Dreamworks, that brought us the Transformers films and you can tell from the trailer that that has played an influence on this film in terms of the design of the robots. Director Shawn Levy (Night At The Museum,Date Night) has proved himself capable of blending humour and action and together with Hugh Jackman this should be make for an entertaining, if not intellectually stimulating night out at the movies.
Synopsis (via IMDb):
A future-set story where robot boxing is a popular sport and centered on a struggling promoter (Jackman) who thinks he's found a champion in a discarded robot. During his hopeful rise to the top, he also discovers he has an 11-year-old son who wants to know his father.
What do you think of this trailer? Are you planning to watch this film?
