Scream 4 debuted on 17 April 2011 - 15 years after its third installment. Scream 4 enlists the usual suspects, Courteney Cox, David Arquette, and Neve Campbell. Its opening weekend reached 3305 theatres across America and earned an estimated total of $19.2 million. I’m just wondering if there will be any genuine scares after Scary Movie completely destroyed the franchise as a credible horror genre.
Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On stranger tides, will be released on 20 May 2011. The return of the much loved Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is sure to bring in the fans. Pirates 4 will be screened in 3D and promises to bring in just as much, if not more, revenue as its predecessors. The third installment grossed a whopping $309 million in the US alone.
Spykids 4: All The Time In The World, will be released 19 August 2011, much to the delight of tweens (kids between the ages of 9 and 12) everywhere. Jessica Alba will be playing the stepmother and retired OSS (Organization for Super Spies) agent. This fourth installment will also be released in 3D.
Twilight 4: Breaking Dawn, will reach silver screens on 18 November 2011. The total worldwide gross for the three previous installments is a jaw dropping $1,792 billion. I’m sure that even more dedicated, slightly obsessed fans will climb out of the woodwork to view this one.
This year is sure to be a year for comparisons, where above mentioned movies will not only be in competition with other movies, but also with their earlier selves. Best of luck to you all.
