The first Afrikaans romantic comedy is soon to begin filming. The film, titled Semi Soet, has a cast of very well known Afrikaans actors and actresses.
Entertainment Africa states that filming is said to start soon in the Cape wine lands and Johannesburg. The Vrede and Lust wine estate will be the set in Cape Town and the Johannesburg setting is not known as yet.
Well known actors such as Anel Alexander (‘Discreet’, ‘7de Laan’, ‘Binnelanders’), Nico Panagio (‘Die Storie van Susanna van Bilion’, ‘Survivor’), Diaan Lawrenson (‘7de Laan’, ‘Stander’), Paul du Toit ('Liefling', 'Binnelanders'), Louw Venter ('The Most Amazing Show'), and Sandra Vaughn ('Getroud Met Rugby') will be in the cast states News24.
The plot revolves around a woman who is trying to save her boutique advertising agency from the claws of a ruthless businessman who is known as ‘The Jackal’. She will go to any lengths to save the agency including convincing a drop-dead gorgeous man to fake being her fiancé for a day. Things to start go hay-wire and provide an apparent hilarious storyline.
Semi Soet will be the first Afrikaans romantic comedy in decades. It will be distributed by Indigenous Distribution and is scheduled for release in 2012.
